Taking care of your nails:
(Neals Yard Remedies "Looking good and feeling great")
  • Try not to bite your nails or pick at your cuticles. These habits can damage the nail bed. Even a minor cut alongside your nail can allow bacteria or fungi to enter and cause an infection. Because your nails grow very slowly, an injured nail will retain signs of an injury for several months.

  • Trim your fingernails and clean under the nails regularly. Use sharp manicure scissors or clippers and an emery board to smooth nail edges. Never pull off hangnails - doing so almost always results in ripping of living tissue. Instead clip hangnails off, leaving a slight angle outward.

  • Nails nee moisture just like your skin does. Rub lotion into your nails when moisturing your hands. Be sure to apply a moisturiser each time you wash your hands to prevent drying. For a intense nourishing treat before bedtime apply an oil or moituriser, then wear cotton gloves to encourage the absorption of moisture and nutrients from the oil.
Tips for super Hair and Nails:
(Neals Yard Remedies "Looking good and feeling great")
  • Increase your intake of EFA's which nourish the hair and nails. EFA oils can also be used topically on your hair or nails.

  • Take a good multivitamin and mineral tablet - minor or 'trace' deficiencies are often at the root of the problems.

  • For healthy hair and nails, eat high-quality protein foods such as legumes, nuts and seeds. Eat foods that are high in vitamin B, or take a supplement.

  • Drink plenty of water - a hydrated body encourages healthy hair and nails.
  • Moisturise and massage, to hydrate and to encourage healthy circulation, which means that oxygenated blood, full of nutrients, reaches the hair and nails. Use essential and healthy oils to nourish. Induldge yourself to our Indian head massage with nourishing hair treatment using Rosemary and Cedarwood essential oils to stimulate and revitalise hair and scalp.

  • Use shampoo based on the mildest detergents and with herbal extracts, to suit your hair type. Try some of NYR Organic orange flower shampoo & conditioner for glossy hair or revive dry and damaged hair with NYR Organic Rose Shampoo & Conditioner.

  • Protect your hands and nails from harsh detergents and cleaners by wearing rubber gloves whenever you will be in contact with them. Wear gloves while gardening.
